As a general rule both Christian and secular counselling share the same desire to help people overcome their problems, find purpose and meaning in life, and become healthy and well adjusted individuals both mentally and emotionally.
Life brings many challenges our way and knowing how to face and deal with them adequately can sometimes be difficult.
Counselling can help us explore creative solutions to problems that seem overwhelming and hard to tackle. It can also help restore perspective and objectivity, and contribute to positive change and growth.

Christian counselling takes a Biblical view of personhood and relationships. Humans are created in God’s image. We’re created to live and engage in relationships within the principles laid down in the Scriptures. While secular counselling often relies solely on the skills and tools that men and women generate, Christian counselling acknowledges the work of the Holy Spirit in the Christian’s life to bring healing. It also draws upon the strengths of various counselling and psychotherapeutic models.
